“You are part of everything and I am part of you
My hope is that you feel my love in all the things you do.”
It’s Annie’s first day of school and her tummy is full of butterflies. Annie’s mum has the perfect gift, to teach Annie that we are always together in our hearts, even when we are apart...
Our children’s worlds are rapidly evolving and bring constant new feelings, situations and environments for them to navigate - some of which can be difficult. No matter what changes they may be facing - be it a new kindergarten, school, living arrangement, or adjusted routine - Love Wings teaches our little ones that our love is always present.
Inspired by the Māori concept of Kaitiakitanga - the connection between people and nature + inspired by Eckhart Tolle's teachings on Love - Love Wings was written to help children feel less anxious during those moments of separation.
The lesson of the book is quite simple: Even when we have to be apart, my love for you will always be with you. You are safe and loved.
Perfect for 5-8 year olds.
Hardcover 32pp with iridescent foil throughout.
At it's heart, Love Wings is about BIG truths expressed in simple ways
A note from the Author, Ami Muir
We often underestimate our children.
They’re capable of understanding really big, powerful ideas… so long as the ideas are explained properly.
Part of my inspiration for Love Wings came from an Eckhart Tolle teaching. Here’s the direct quote that captures the idea:
“Love is a state of Being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it cannot leave you.”
With permission from Eckhart Tolle, Love Wings, takes this idea and make it digestible for children.
The main anxiety children have on their first day of school, or their first trip away from parents, is uncertainty. They have to leave the safe and familiar behind for the unknown.
If a child thinks that love is limited only to when they can literally see you – then of course it makes sense that they’d be scared.
But what if they knew that your love never left them?
That no matter where they were or who they were with, your love was just as strong, just as constant, and just as real?
That’s what Tolle teaches. We don’t have to be dependent on external circumstances or events for that love – love really is our birthright, and we can never be separated from if we know where to look for it.
And that’s what I teach in Love Wings.
In the book, Annie thinks it is the wings that have the power, but when she loses them, she discovers that really the love comes from her own heart.
“Love is a state of Being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you.
You can never lose it, and it cannot leave you.”
Eckhart Tolle
I love the message within Love Wings. I have two young children who have just started school, it's a very scary transition for young children and often are learning how to be apart from their parents for a long period of time. I enjoyed the message within the story and believe it may help children adjust when starting school and inspire imagination and also could be used by teachers.

"The pictures, the story! Such a beautiful story about "spreading your wings child", transitioning into a new environment for a child, having that physical support for the child even though the parent isn’t with them makes a big difference helping settle a child. Your beautiful books always leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling!"

"This topic you have focused on, which spoke to me of attachment and separation, is such a common life experience for children and their parents and carers. You have written a story that can help adults articulate these sometimes tricky transitions, offering children insight, hope and the understanding that they can cope.Life is full of changes and experiences of grief and loss and the idea that we can hold the people we love in our thoughts and our hearts is a powerful one."

"Therapeutically, this story uses the butterfly as a transitional object, much as the cuddly blanket is for the newborn, and uses the power of the imagination and an embodied practice to bring a distressed child back to calm. It also conveys the profound message that we all need help from others, and when love is given, received it is natural to pass it on. Annie learns her lesson so well that she is able to sensitive to the new boy, befriend him and teach him the story behind the butterfly wings she ‘gives away’. Generosity, kindness, compassion and love – all gifts designed to be given away. I wish this story was available when my children started school! It is written and illustrated with great sensitivity and understanding and while aimed for children aged 5-7 those reading the story to their children, grandchildren, class cannot help but be gifted with a way to calm their own anxiety, distress, fears and sadness."

- What would you tell other people about our products? Gorgeous book with a beautiful, simple storyline. My daughter and i read it every night she is with me. When she separates from me, i ask her to make sure she has Mummy's love with her as she goes. It would be great to have a teddy, butterfly or soft toy that has the blue silver love wings (similar to the hugs and kisses soft toys) for her to take with her. Just make it look like the ones in the book!!

Love Wings
What a beautiful portrayal of a very common issue for many youngsters. The illustrations are beautiful and will help visualization of their inside feelings while the words will help them explain.

Love Wings
I absolutely love “Love Wings” but I would love to know how to correctly pronounce the Maori phrases/words within. Is there anyone who can help me ... so I can teach my granddaughter to say them properly. Cheers and thank you so much for this beautiful book.
